Tewkesbury’s international long distance running star achieves 200 marathons

Angie Sadler celebrates reaching 200 at the Gloucester Marathon, 20th January 2019

Tewkesbury RC’s former England international long distance runner Angie Sadler, 59 and who lives in Forthampton near Tewkesbury, is about to achieve yet another remarkable running ‘milestone’ when she completes her official 200th marathon at the Gloucester Marathon on 20th January. Being selected 5 times for England at distances from 50km t...

Two Tewkesbury RC marathon regulars, Angie Sadler and Phillip Howells, who are also members of the 100 Marathon Club, travelled to Essex on a cold clear day to compete in the 100 Marathon Club AGM Marathon, held, strangely enough, on the morning before the club’s annual general meeting when the great and the good of the club gathered to review the latest year of what is an increasing rate of membership and 100 marathon club achievements. The event was very well organised by running group Sikhs i...

Fulfilling plans to run the Jersey marathon first muted some years ago, the Tewkesbury RC marathon running pair of Angie Sadler and Phillip Howells finally managed to compete in this friendly and scenic event. Starting in the capital town of St Helier, the course quickly turns uphill for a few miles along the secluded reservoir valley before proceeding along some of the many lane-type country roads with long French names and via the airport to eventually descend back to sea level by the dramatic...

Tewkesbury marathoners Angie Sadler and Phillip Howells completed their latest marathons at the well-established and popular Wolverhampton marathon during the first September weekend.

From a field of 214 finishers covering the 2 lap course over a mixture of local streets, parkland, footpaths and canal paths, Angie continued her run of season good form with another outstanding time of 3hrs 34mins 17seconds. This gave her 50th place overall, 4th lady and 1st FV55+. It was her 165th marathon finish.

aOn the third weekend in July, Tewkesbury RC runners Angie Sadler and Phillip Howells travelled up to North Wales to compete in the 2017 Snowdonia Trail Marathon, which must be one of the very toughest UK trail events. You can’t better sum up what this event is all about than in the words of Aim High Events, the organisers: ‘The SCOTT Snowdonia Trail Marathon is a challenge in every sense of the word. Ascending 1,685 meters over 26 miles of iconic and spectacular trails, this epic race will circ...

Angie Sadler and Phillip Howells travelled down to Somerset last weekend to represent TRC in what is a low key and local, but popular Yeovil marathon based around the Royal Navy Air Station at Yeovilton. The race covers two laps of a rolling course along quiet, pretty lanes and through picturesque villages. Both had not run for 2 or 3 weeks due to work in Angie’s case and a nasty lurgy in Phillip’s, but both finished more than respectably in the circumstances.

Angie once again shone to win awards...

 Phillip reports from Exeter...

Angie Sadler and myself ran the Exeter Marathon: Well organised, low key event with 310 finishers which was a big increase on last year as this relatively new event catches on. Started at Exeter Football Club (it’s organised through Exeter’s ‘Football in the Community’ initiative) on closed roads through the town centre and then three interesting and scenic laps around the quays and water front. Angie finished in 3-44-13 for 68th place and her 159th marathon, I rec...

Sorry it has taken a while to produce them, but I’m pleased to get the results of the Poets Path Potter out to you at last. To be honest I was pretty exhausted after Saturday and the next couple of days going around the course to pick up the tape, followed by working away for a couple of days. Just about caught up on sleep in time for the Manchester marathon on Sunday.

Congrats to Cajsa Holgersson for being a new name in the main marathon event and setting a female record winning time in 4 hours...

After leaving the revels of the Tewkesbury RC party a bit early on Saturday for a very early start next day to travel down to the Portsmouth Coastal Waterfront Trail marathon, both Angie Sadler and Phillip Howells were rewarded with successful finishes - although with rather different performance standards.

It was a cool and foggy day, but without the heavy rain of 2015 and with no wind this was probably the best weather conditions for the race which is now in its 7th year and has grown from smal...

The 2016 edition of the Snowdonia marathon was held in the best Autumn weather for few years, for despite a bit of drizzle and some clouds, it was mild and still so the colours, lakes and mountains could be admired at their most splendid best in the usual atmospheric day out in the stunning scenery of the Welsh mountains.

Four Tewkesbury Running Club team mates took part - Angie Sadler, who was not only having her first run since completing the Cotswold Way 103m race a month ago and then sufferin...
