Here’s an update from Phillip Howells. As some of you may know, Phillip is renaissance man when it comes to sport – his log of events over the last 10 years is jaw-dropping. Have a read of his most recent exploits when he logged his 200th marathon…

As you do, lol, I decided to make it a double to celebrate the double century and it was a very satisfying weekend. I entered the new City to Sea marathon from Exeter to Babbacombe on the Saturday (3rd September) including some really tough SW Coastal...

It was my third running of the 2-day event, 38 miles day 1 and 30 miles day 2, running clockwise around the whole island. It starts with us running off the chain ferry which goes across the river in East Cowes as it lands on the east side of the river, which is a bit different. Phillip Howells 4.46.39 Pos 7402

9364 finishers

Lovely sunny day with only a breeze for most of it if a cold start (surprise frost on windscreens early on), venue at Lancashire Cricket Club in the Trafford area and interesting course around urban Greater Manchester, never boring and pretty flat, several sections...

There was a rare ‘double double’ success for Tewkesbury RC runners at the Poets Path Potter events held over the Easter weekend. Although not billed as a formal race, try telling that to local marathon enthusiasts since the marathon event (approx. 27 miles over lovely and scenic, but quite demanding off-road paths around Dymock celebrating local poets – Poets Path I and Poets Path II and the Daffodil Way) has always attracted very keen competition from runners looking to hone their fitness for...

Two of us from TRC made a long trip to Surrey on a lovely sunny day at the weekend to take part in the LDWA Surrey Group Punchbowl Marathon. Angie Sadler and I, with former member Michelle Laws had entered the 30 mile ultra, but since I am still getting back to form and fitness slowly and not up to the full 30 miles distance that the ladies completed yet, I jogged around the 20 at a comfortable pace. An enjoyable day was spoilt a bit when I had a tad painful and muddy fall onto the injured rib s...
