“Wisely and slow; they stumble that run fast” *

While the whole world was focused on the London Marathon, our Club Captain surprised even himself by grabbing a late entry in the Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford-upon-Avon.

It’s my personal second favourite marathon (behind Barbados) for many reasons and well worth considering.

Here is Roy’s review of the day:

“Conditions were ideal and aimed to start at a steady pace, but got dragged along a bit (probably by the quicker pace of the half marathoners); felt OK so decided just to go with the flow and see what happened. Went through half way in about 1:52 but that's when things started to get tough. Managed to stay on 4hr pace until 20 miles but couldn't sustain it after that and finished in 4:06:16 a 19 minute improvement on my Paris time. That was my 25th marathon.

“Bid me run, and I will strive with things impossible”*
