It’s only January and here’s an early contender for Performance of the Year.
Sharon Lockley took on an international field of runners in India over a 10km distance. Not only did Sharon smash through her age-group competition, she went on to win the women’s race overall!
Many of us recall Sharon’s progress last year with Tewkesbury Running Club – most particularly her mile race in the Gloucestershire track championships in the Prince of Wales stadium where she pulled-up with a loose shoe lace before bravely re-joining the race to claim a place on the podium – her performance that night short-listed her for the annual 2018 Performance of the Year.
Her race time in Goa was 55:16 minutes and given the hot and humid conditions, it’s not surprising that no one could goa quicker.
