Handicap Series

What is the Handicap Series?
The Handicap Series is a series of 5 mile races held across the summer by TRC. Typically, the series is made up of 5 rounds using the Guy Fawkes 5 route. The format gives everyone a chance of winning by allocating handicap times based on everyone’s expected 5 mile time, although it does favour the slower runners as they can progress more than the faster ones. The slowest runner goes off first, then everyone else follows at intervals according to their handicap time. If everyone runs to form then everyone should finish together.

Who can enter the handicap?
Any TRC member can enter. The format gives everyone a chance of winning, by allocating handicap times based on everyone’s expected 5 mile time.

Am I too slow to take part?
Absolutely not, in fact the handicap format favours the slower runners as they can progress more than the faster ones.

What happens on the night?
It’s best to park at Morrisons (ideal for pre/post run shopping) if you are driving as it’s just a short walk across to Walton Cardiff Lane where we start and finish. The slowest runner goes off first, then everyone else follows at intervals according to their handicap time.
