Some 16,000 runners took part in this half which is basically run on the the less attractive parts of the London Marathon route. A very chilly day and early start, in addition to not the prettiest course, led to this not being the greatest supported race in the calendar. One big highlight was crossing a crowded Tower Bridge at around 7 miles.

Four runners from the club took part: Dave Aguirre, Samantha Robinson, Sheena Moseley and Laura Kent.  Linda and Mike Younger were there in support, walki...

Sunday 15th March saw the Gloucester 20 taking place - a fairly testing 20 mile race and a traditional pre-spring marathon leg tester: With a slender field due to the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic that was to engulf us all within a matter of days, this race seemed to be one of a handful remaining live. So on a cold and wet morning Simon Crilley lined up for the 3 lap course. Simon, debating with himself if it was all worth it after the news of his Manchester Marathon being called off. Tr...

At 9:00 am Saturday 14th March, this year's Rogue Runs Berkeley 20/20 Fission race got underway.

This was to be one of the last races this season not to be affected by the coronavirus!  Tewkesbury Running club were well represented with Angie Sadler, Nick Matthews, Emma1 Smith, Laura Kent and Cameron Pay all making the start line of the 20 mile run - this was not looking likely a few days before with the expected, but disappointing news that all the spring marathons had been postponed or cancelle...

Morning All

Following proper consideration of yesterday’s government update indicating that everyone should avoid non-essential contact it is with regret that the committee has decided we should suspend all club runs until further notice.

We encourage everyone to follow government guidance and to protect yourselves and others.

When we have further updates, we will let you know, via email and social media.

Until then take care and be safe.

Once again, the glorious Bourton-on-the Water was the scene of some sparkling performances from the Tewkesbury runners.  Normally, February in the Cotswold village is bitterly cold but this year there was a rise in the mercury and the imminent threat of rain – the clouds waited until the race was underway before letting it go – all the runners got a soaking and with blustery wind and puddles to hurdle, the later stages of famous 10km course were testing.

Although it was a race to enter the a...

The recent club AGM was a successful evening and a glorious look back on the exploits from 2019.  As well as reviewing the progress the club has made, the winner of the individual ‘Performance of the Year’ was announced - something that rewards an outstanding performance relative to the runner – perhaps returning from injury, a new distance, a new runner, a personal best or maybe achieving their goal after a long training plan.

Previous winners have all been female so would the trend continue?

The Staverton 10 mile race has recently become a regular fixture in the local race calendar for the winter period.  Based at Staverton airport and hosted by CLC Striders, the run features two laps around the surrounding area. Taking place in late January, the run appeals to those with spring marathons and half-marathons as their season’s goal – and what better way to feel how the training is working than this race-pace endurance test.

Soon into a headwind, Tewkesbury’s lead runner, Matt Flynn, se...

Tewkesbury run club kicked-off the new decade and the start of the 2020 club championships with the popular Almost Athletes’ Linda Franks 5 race.  An event that has been supported by Tewkesbury for many years; from the years when it was a one or two lap/2.2 or 4.4 mile option.  These years, it’s the biggest January event in Gloucestershire.  Not everyone who wanted to race were swift enough to secure an entry this time, nonetheless, TRC almost made-up 10% of the starting line-up.  As well as bei...

Tewkesbury Running Club once again had great success in this 10 month long road race series held between 12 varying county races - distances ranging from 1 mile to 20 mile. It was always going to be hard to match last year’s success, where the TRC Ladies won both Open and Vet team prizes - but 2019 proved to be a year with more individual medalists - and a surprise but most deserved team prize this year.

Shona Crombie-Hicks has been a regular on the county road race series for many a year and thi...

This year’s popular Christmas charity race over at Evesham attracted some hardy Tewkesbury runners;  the Festive 10km off-road event was held over some very water-logged ground indeed.  Originally called ‘Race for Grace’ to raise funds and then supporting myositis research before the 2019 edition supporting the ‘Children with Cancer UK’ charity.  The venue was again, from Evesham United FC ground and for most runners, it was a festive affair with many donning seasonal fancy dress.
