Tewkesbury Running Club are pleased to announce their nominated charity of the year, the Friends of Alderman Knight School, have received a £500 donation. Runners gladly gathered together on the Cainscross Road on a cold crisp bright clear morning for the 38th running of the ever popular Stroud Half Marathon. With conditions absolutely perfect for endurance running, many runners were fit and ready for a swift performance.
With 18 Tewkesbury Running Club members assembled for the race, the club was placed for a fine day as the hooter set the runners off at a few minutes past 9am.
With over 60 miles of trails winding through rugged and demanding parklands and woodland - it’s no surprise that Land Rover use Eastnor Castle grounds to test their vehicles through the wildest of terrain.
With this in mind, the Relish Running 10K event would be only for the toughest! The course picked the muddiest trails the estate has to offer with natural obstacles and fallen trees to navigate; gullies to cross; hills to climb and of course - lots of mud to roll in!
Mike and Linda Younger hosted another one of their increasingly popular ‘Tewkesbury Running Club On Tour’, as 14 TRC members went to race the Krakow Half Marathon on Sunday 13th October.
Along with he 14 club runners, a total of 23 people enjoyed the long weekend break in Krakow - enjoying the unseasonably warm weather that follows TRC on all their abroad races! The group found Krakow a beautiful city and the food and drink proved to be amazingly cheap.
Great performances all round from Tewkesbury RC including a very impressive XC debut from Owen Grant. Despite taking part in his first XC race since school, Owen not only smashed the competition but smashed the muddy course with ease!
Finishing in the top 15 in a time of 33:57 was simply outstanding. That sort of time for a 9km road race would be amazing but to do it on a course strewn with mud and monster puddles was exceptional!
A very early wet 6:30 start to get to the park and ride before heading into Oxford and my start pen. The first 4 miles I kept my pace although the streets were very narrow and you had to contend with a lot of congestion from other runners. The weather was certainly damp with rain from start to finish and some huge puddles. I continued my 10 to 10:30 minute pace ensuring I kept site of the 2:20 pacer but the final 3 miles were tough and I dropped back.
