Gloucestershire 2025 10km Championships.

The Angels Run Club staged this year’s GAAA 10km champs within their beautiful Angels 10k race at Ashleworth. Starting and ending at the Woodpeckers cricket club, the event also featured in the Tewkesbury Running club race series.

Needless to say, Sue Baldwin made the ‘stones-throw’ trip to her village centre. Sarah Dennis, Hannah Moon, Ruth Greening and Jon Mansfield made up the small TRC contingent (the date clashed with a couple of big European events hence, the low turn-out).

All eyes were on the local celebrity as she looked to brush-off the fact she competed in a 10-mile race in South Wales just days ago. Baldwin was in for tough challenge with all 3 other TRC girls in tremendous form with PBs in most distances this year.

It was Mansfield who led the club through the village centre and down towards the River Severn. While Mansfield had a malfunction and dropped out after a mile, the race was blazing between the 4 other golden slashes. Greening and Moon matched each other stride by stride and sailed through the first 4 km with new PBs on their watches. The infamous climb up Draper's hill took the wind out of most runner's sails – Greening, Moon and Baldwin included. Dennis, however kept her momentum going.

From the top of the hill, the runners had an undulating return to the village for the second half. And just like last weekend's return to Alderton village, Greening had the edge over Moon. Recording a 10km PB by over 5 minutes, Greening was delighted with her race. Moon crossed the finish line 16 seconds later with her own 10km PB – her third 10km PB this year! Baldwin followed with a performance good enough to secure a GAAA (Gloucestershire Amateur Athletics Assocation) medal. Dennis dashed across the finish line seconds later and also claimed a county medal – she was delighted with her own performance that sliced 20 seconds off her previous best over a course, that some love, some hate!

The race for the Tewkesbury Road Race series has become the most competitive in the club’s history and is certain to go all the way to the last event.

Great support on the day – special mention to Chris Nicholls, and Andrew Gillett who was a sight for sore eyes in amongst the blackberries.

48:51 Ruth Greening
