News round-up.
The Myositis Evesham Festive 10K (was Race for Grace last year).
Just Nigel Tillott and Steve & Karen Maber attended this flat but demanding off-road event. While Selena Gouldstone said farewell as she ran her last race for Tewkesbury as she very reluctantly changes clubs due to her relocation to Broadway; Selena will be forever remembered for her heroic effort in the Bristol-to-Bath Marathon.
Nigel ran this race last year and for those who can remember he was unwell and really hated it. This year he ran better and overhauled Steve.
To be fair to Steve though, it was his first run after sustaining injuries from a velodrome cycling crash. The conditions were sunny but windy and muddy in places and that seemed to help Karen run a good race.
Selena enjoyed the combination but was disappointed to come in just over the hour.
Nigel was the V50 winner in 44 minutes and a strong two minutes ahead of Steve. Karen timed 54 minutes before Selena with 61 minutes.
Nigel back on form
Phillip Howells completed the Portsmouth Coastal Waterside Marathon in 5.29 hrs (762th of 897 finishers), a tough trail marathon along the coast around Portsmouth bay and Hayling Island, very windy with lots of water and mud, often along stretches of beach. Just Phillip’s sort of thing!
