Broadway Tower Charity Run

Tewkesbury Running Club enjoyed a night on Broadway when nearly 20 runners made the trip over the North Gloucestershire boarder to the olde worlde Cotswold village.

The show was the Broadway Tower Charity run – an attractive jaunt through Broadway before ascending to the iconic tower before looping back down to the start. All in a fairly pleasant five miles.

The charity in question is the Worcestershire Breast Care Unit and I understand the night not only raised heartrates, but almost £2,500 for the said charity. It was the biggest attendance in the race’s history by far and the Tewkesbury runners really impressed.

Chris Goscombe was the lead for the club while Natalie Jenks was again the lead from a female perspective.

Some other stand-out performances were given by Paul Booth, Rachel Brownett, Carly Merriman and both Gary Pavey and Duxbury gave Alec Vincent an added challenge.

Sharon Pates proved her current fitness by holding off strong running by Cathy Dudfield and the off-road fearing Sharon Peters. Jane Sauer added quality to the field but was over a minute in Natty Jenks’s wake.

Chris Duckworth took it all in his stride – literally. Karen Likeman impressed and Charlotte Deacon added some pink to the occasion. Finally, Kevin Emmerson enjoyed the Cotswold gem as he builds-up his training for the Cotswold Way Relay next mouth.
