Poets Path Potter results update
Sorry it has taken a while to produce them, but I’m pleased to get the results of the Poets Path Potter out to you at last. To be honest I was pretty exhausted after Saturday and the next couple of days going around the course to pick up the tape, followed by working away for a couple of days. Just about caught up on sleep in time for the Manchester marathon on Sunday.
Congrats to Cajsa Holgersson for being a new name in the main marathon event and setting a female record winning time in 4 hours 26 minutes. Same to the men for a race long battle for supremacy with Rob Bowery reversing last year’s finish order to win the marathon just ahead of last year’s winner Nigel Tillott, both in 3 hours 56 minutes (same time as last year). Amazing running by all of them over that terrain with all those stiles and kissing gates.
I think you’d agree we all had a fab day and thanks a lot for supporting the events. A privilege and pleasure to see many existing friends taking part and to making new ones. I was very pleased to see no litter on the course at all that could be attributed to our event, so it can be done. Well done to everyone for keeping to the spirit of the Potter. J You also contributed over £54 to the charity collection box and there will be at least another £200 in proceeds to be shared between the cricket club and upkeep of the Poets Paths as a result of your entry.
Sure you will join me in thanking the sponsors Wigwam socks and Silverpoint socks and head torches for prizes, to Gloucester Sports and Clubsport Ledbury for the goody bags and to Dymock Cricket Club for their hospitality and now excellent facilities in the new pavilion. More thanks to the helpers of Kathy Tytler for the sterling job in recording you all in for each distance and reading her inspirational running poetry at the start, to Edward for tirelessly producing the refreshments all day, and to Derrick, Greg and Richard for registration and car park marshalling support. It was very fitting that the winning raffle ticket of 810 for the sparkling wine was sold to Kathy; much deserved for getting all your times accurately recorded. No easy task with 5 events to account for.
Can’t promise it will be on again next year, but hoping it will be and if so will let you know the date as soon as possible.
All the very best and hoping your running and walking will enjoy the same sort of wonderful weather conditions in all the rest of your 2017 events.
