Yeovil Marathon

Angie Sadler and Phillip Howells travelled down to Somerset last weekend to represent TRC in what is a low key and local, but popular Yeovil marathon based around the Royal Navy Air Station at Yeovilton. The race covers two laps of a rolling course along quiet, pretty lanes and through picturesque villages. Both had not run for 2 or 3 weeks due to work in Angie’s case and a nasty lurgy in Phillip’s, but both finished more than respectably in the circumstances.

Angie once again shone to win awards, finishing 3rd lady overall and 1st FV55+ in 47th place with a chip time of 3.33.48. Phillip took it easy to finish in a chip time of 5.44.00, just about managing not to come last in 197th place from 202 finishers. It was a hot day with quite a number of DNFs, but both showed their experience of steady pacing in the early stages under such conditions to finish strongly and pass runners in the last few miles. Always a satisfying experience in races, as we all know.
