Apperley Quarter Marathon
In this year’s Apperley Quarter, Tewkesbury Running Club added to the biggest list of starters in the event’s history. Nineteen from the club lined-up on the Cricket pitch to head towards the Coal House and then a familiar journey upstream on the banks of the River Severn before an exclusive path through the Deerhurst church grounds. The last 2 miles took the runners back up to higher group, then back to Apperley Cricket ground where some spectacular dashes for the line were seen; Alec Vincent made short work of his challenger but it was a minute behind that caught the eye with Russell Steele finishing at break-neck speed against a Cheltenham Harrier rival – it truly was an exciting treat for the masses of spectators. Further back, Natalie Jenks needed to be at her best to get the better of club captain Roy Northcott who, was unquestionly at his best. Kim Boskett was noted for a good run before she races in the Welsh capital.
