Croome Park

This year’s Croome Capability Canter was finally blessed with bright weather; having suffered from misty and sometimes overcast conditions in previous occasions, there was blue sky and sunshine blazing down. Although it is a relatively flat course, the route does test the runners over some rough fields and some twisting woods - very much in the style of Capability Brown. The steepest ascents on the National Trust estate are tackled both at the start and the finish.

Jon finished first for Tewkesbury after being chased by Mark who ran another good race.

Mark (Parker) followed Mark (Gardiner) by 2 minutes though this was to be Mark's last run before a forced injury break. Let's hope he bounces back.

Nigel ran well to contain Alec. Nigel's uphill finish certainly made the lungs work hard.

Alec crossed the line within shouting distance of Nigel and looks to have mastered the art of looking good for the camera lens.

Gary must have been the most disappointed runner of the day - somehow, the in-form athlete finished a few seconds behind the V60 winner, a category he is excelling in.

Stuart kept Gary in sight and followed 20 seconds behind.

'Improver of the Year' Chris Duckworth ran well to stay ahead on 'Improver of the Day' Carly Merriman as she continues to convert her dislike for off-road running.

Fran also improved considerably on the previous year despite declaring that she has not trained much this season.

Cathy bounced back fine from the Broadway Marathon to make short work of the 6.1 mile Worcestershire terrain. Cathy even turned the heat on Carol during the final kilometer.
