Cardiff Half Marathon

Mothering Sunday dawned bright and sunny as 6 Tewkesbury Running Club members headed for the Welsh capital (that`s Cardiff for anyone who failed GCSE Geography) to tackle the city`s Half Marathon, along with 27,500 like-minded people.

With such a large field and race rusty legs it was not a day for PBs, but Ian Caley led the Tewkesbury contingent home and was pleased to break the 2 hour mark in a chip time of 1:58:58.

The next member home and leading the ladies was Laura, who posted a gutsy time of 2:11:53 and demonstrated why her nickname is Diesel.

Next to cross the line was Tonia in an excellent time of 2:12:01 considering the lack of training miles in the legs, and then Pete came in with a disappointing (for him) 2:12:59.

Lindy was the next Tewkesbury runner home with a fine time of 2:16:12 which again was achieved on legs which hadn`t been turning over much lately and the same could be said of Lynda who stopped the clock at a very creditable 2:17:16.

A chunky medal, a nice T shirt and a banana was the reward for our intrepid runners, and the day`s race was no doubt a stepping stone towards the Tewkesbury Half, nearer to home.
